Cynical taxi driver gets tangled up in murder mysteries, robberies and more.
Odd Taxi was the biggest surprise of the season. I thought it would be some kind of taxi driver slice of life thing, but it was so much more. I really like these kinds of stories where you have a lot of parallel storylines that keep intersecting and branching off, and it actually managed to tie up all the loose ends as well. In contrast to Godzilla SP, which tried a similar thing, I was actually invested in the plot threads and trying to figure out what was really going on.
It was also consistently funny, and it had a lot of great characters. I enjoyed Odokawa’s banter with Dobu the most, but he had good chemistry with almost everyone he met. And the rest of the cast was good too. One episode was entirely about a new character’s gacha obsession, and it was still engrossing.
This isn’t a show I have a lot to say about, it’s something you really just have to experience yourself. It may not even be the best show of the season (just because Nomad was also very good), but it was probably the one I was looking forward to watching the most each week.
